Suggested Donation Rates
Our suggested donation rates are based on power, because that is our limiting factor. These rates include power, space, and bandwidth--unless you were to use an exceptional amount of one of those.
Power usage is measured as the amperage draw of the system while booting (but after the power on peak). This is assumed to be a reasonable "busy load". SeaCCP is not pay-for-service, these suggested donations are not fixed, they just reflect our costs plus a small buffer to keep us out of debt. Members are encouraged to pay what they can and any additional will be used to subsidize others who cannot afford as much. The prices may be adjusted if we start to find ourselves in debt/surplus.
These amount covers a reasonable amount of space in the rack and an average amount of bandwidth. Boxes larger than 2U will need a special exception before being added. If a member is using enough bandwidth to cause the colo's bandwidth bill significantly increase, they will be expected to pay for the additional usage at $20/mbps/month (measured 95%ile).
